Anthropic has once again extended Claude Fable 5 access for paid subscribers. The promotion now runs until 11:59:59 p.m. PT on July 19, or 3:59:59 p.m. KST on July 20. But this is not the return of Fable 5 as a permanent subscription benefit. It is the second extension of a temporary offer that lets eligible subscribers use Fable 5 for up to 50% of their existing weekly limit.

Anthropic launched Fable 5 on June 9 and included it in paid subscriptions through June 22, before removing it on June 23. After the U.S. government lifted the export controls on June 30, Anthropic redeployed the model worldwide on July 1 with a new cutoff of July 7. It later moved the cutoff first to July 12 and then to July 19. The company has said it may extend access as capacity permits and aims to restore Fable 5 as a permanent subscription benefit once capacity is sufficient. It has not disclosed a date or specific conditions.

OpenAI released GPT-5.6 on July 9, between the two extensions. Techzine covered the first extension in the context of GPT-5.6's imminent launch, framing the models as competitors. Android Authority described the extension as a move that followed online backlash.

The promotion is currently confirmed through July 19. Anthropic has not announced whether it will extend it again or when Fable 5 will return as a permanent subscription benefit.
